Bioimpedance provides estimates rather than directly measuring every tissue. Interpret numbers through measurement conditions, device limitations and trends rather than a single reading.
Understanding the method
Bioelectrical impedance records the body’s response to a low electrical signal and uses models to calculate estimates. It does not directly see every tissue. Ask which indicators the device provides and their limits rather than treating a percentage as an absolute truth.
Conditions influence readings
Hydration, meals, activity and timing may influence a reading. Follow the device’s preparation instructions; do not dehydrate yourself to obtain a lower number. Consistent conditions and equipment matter more than pursuing small daily changes.
Look at trends rather than one value
A change between two measurements does not necessarily represent an equivalent change in fat or muscle. Discuss the trend alongside activity, comfort and monitoring goals. Report any device or method change because results may not be directly comparable.

Safety before measurement
Mention pregnancy or an implanted medical device before measurement. Suitability depends on the equipment’s instructions and your situation. A reading does not diagnose disease, determine medication changes or replace a medical or nutritional assessment when needed.
Useful follow-up questions
Ask: why use this measurement, how can conditions be repeated, and how will results affect follow-up? These questions give numbers a practical purpose. Discuss body-composition assessment at PhysioFlex in Marrakech and confirm the device and available indicators before visiting.
A difference does not prove tissue change
Readings on different days may vary with measurement conditions. Do not directly translate the difference into fat lost or muscle gained. Ask whether conditions are comparable and whether the change is meaningful given the method’s precision. Comparing two apps is not sufficient interpretation.
Use measurement to answer a clear question
The question may concern a trend alongside stable activity rather than the lowest number today. Agree what the measurement will change in follow-up. If it does not affect a useful decision, very frequent repeat measurements may not be necessary.
